Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson won Round Two, but the Jaguars won the game. The young Jaguars secondary couldn’t hold Johnson in check like they did in the first meeting. Johnson caught two passes for 36 yards in a 13-6 loss to the Jaguars on Nov. 24. The results were much different Thursday night at EverBank Field, but the Jaguars escaped with a 27-20 victory. Johnson caught 13 passes for 154 yards. He did not score a touchdown.

The Jaguars limited Johnson by making sure they knew where he was at all times. They play almost exclusively man coverage and cornerback Alan Ball drew Johnson most of the game. He was rarely alone, though. He had safety help over the top and a player without coverage responsibilities sliding over to help on shorter routes.

Another factor was the pass rush. The Jaguars got good pressure on Case Keenum, sacking him twice and hitting him five other times. They also broke up nine passes, including a big hit on Johnson by safety Winston Guy.

Johnson has performed well against the Jaguars in recent years. He has gained 99 or more receiving yards in four of his last seven games against the Jaguars. Johnson caught 14 passes for 273 yards in a 43-37 overtime win over the Jaguars last season.

Fans keep cheering for Johnson in and out of the field. Even though the result is not good for the Texans, the fans didn’t stop supporting Johnson. As the sales volume shows 45,635 the Andre Johnson jerseys had been sold out during the game, Texan Stop announced on Facebook. After the game, the number climbs up to 47,061 and still is floating which terrifies the fans never give up standing by Johnson’s side. It is really hard to stop him in and out of the game.
